Research study background

Cambridge University published a research study in September 2021 which suggested that: “Autistic people are more likely to identify with a diverse range of sexual orientations than non-autistic individuals.”

Such intersectionality, can cause barriers to healthcare, where healthcare professionals do have the necessary knowledge and understanding of the subject.

We sent out an online survey to gather information on:
  1. The impact of the intersectionality of autistic LGBTQ+ barriers, when accessing healthcare.
  2. The improvements participants would recommend to improve their healthcare.

Our research report discusses the results of the survey and a subsequent focus group.
